Title: Shades of life

Subtitle: Collection of memories

I was born and raised in the north-west of Germany. Photography and videography have accompanied me throughout all of my life so far. Starting with the small documentations of familiy vacations and small movie scenes in school, photography began to play a more substantial role with the start of my studies at university. My camera became more than instrument of creative expression, but took on a psychological purpose it fulfills to this day. When starting studies in psychology and work in business and marketing, I noticed how the fast pacedness, superficialness, competitiveness and constant pressure to perform were draining me. I started going on walks with my camera to focus on the small moment. First, I took pictures flowers, insects - everything I could discover outside in nature. Later, I started capturing houses, abandoned streets, cars and people going about their everyday lifes. I noticed that I started looking at the world differently, enjoying moments and just taking a chance to pause. That is where I am today - I roam through the streets of this world every day, taking in all they have to offer. Whether in Porto, Paris, Cologne or London - one thing in guaranteed: they all have those small and initially insignificant moments that make them beautiful and perfect in their own way. This volume contains some of my impressions of the past two years and I hope that you can take a moment savour these shades of life the way that I did while capturing them. Always remember: No matter where you are or what you do, beauty is always in the eye of the beholder.
