Periphery by Annette Zer
By (author): Annette Zer
Title: Periphery
Subtitle: Looking inward, looking ahead
Blurb/Shorttext:
Annette Zer is a self-taught photographer mostly exploring the world of sensual nudes. Her intention is to portrait women in a strong, playful way, but never overly sexual or lascivious. In her work, women decide what they feel comfortable showing and what stays hidden. Her work breathes freedom and is not guided by the male gaze which allows women to be themselves. That is why most photos are taken in cozy homes or other personal environments making it possible to play and experiment in a safe space. Annette’s other areas of specialties that sometimes go hand in hand with nudes are lifestyle and documentary photography. Born in Kazakhstan and raised in Frankfurt, Periphery takes you on a journey through the selected works of Annette Zer during her last 6 years living and creating in Berlin. This book functions as an exhibition of what was, allowing a foreshadowing of a new chapter of photography that is yet to come.
