Blurb/Shorttext:

LOVE IS LOVE

[ENG] Gabriel DIA was born in 1985 in Rufisque, Senegal. To escape reprisals for his homosexuality, he arrived in France in 2008, where he is still living and working. Trained as an engineer, through writing Gabriel developed an artistic language. The passion for the written word led to his first novel “The Birth of a Virgin” (“La Naissance d'une Vierge”, 2013, Éditions de Montigny).

His visual inspirations include the works of photographers Dominique Issermann and Peter Lindbergh, to name a few. Yet the pivotal impulse that inspired him to delve into the art of photography was the discovery of Sara Moon's work. In his own words, through photography, Gabriel “can express multiple things and ideas simultaneously”.

In 2021 at La Bibliothèque nationale de France (BNF) he held his first solo exhibition entitled «SABAR» – a universal work, inspired by his life, echoing the eternal questions of gender and identity.

LOVE IS LOVE (a poem by Gabriel Dia)

Orange or green My name is orange but sometimes I'm green.

Sometimes I like pink, sometimes I prefer blue.

Sometimes my hair is short, sometimes they are long.

Sometimes I have big breasts, sometimes they are not so big.

Sometimes I have a masculine posture, sometimes I have a feminine posture.

Sometimes I have whims, sometimes I don't.

Sometimes I have body hair, sometimes I don't.

Sometimes I like men, sometimes I like women.

Sometimes I laugh, sometimes I cry. I simply think I don’t have a preference.
