Sam fait parti des rares artistes dans le monde et pionnier en France depuis 2008, à pratiquer le beach art, du land art s’apparentant à des graffitis éphémères où les bombes aérosols sont remplacées par un râteau et les murs par les belles plages qui l’entourent et celles qu’il parcourt à travers le monde (Afrique du sud, Maroc, Portugal, Espagne, Irlande, Bermudes etc..). Ses immenses fresques sont inspirées par le pays où il se trouve, sa culture (ferronnerie et zelliges marocains, azulejos portugais..), l’environnement direct (anfractuosités, formes des rochers) l’art urbain ou simplement improvisées. Ces plages deviennent la toile d’une œuvre sans limite, si ce n’est celle du temps et sensationnelle au sens propre, où les cinq sens sont en éveil, en foulant le sable des pieds nus, sentant et goûtant l’embrun iodé sur la langue, buriné par le soleil et le vent, le tout au son des vagues brisant plus loin. L’aspect éphémère de ce travail relève l’importance de se délecter de chaque instant, de prendre le temps, Avant que la marée ne viennent effacer son œuvre et ne lui rende une p(l)age vierge, vient un second travail, photographique cette fois. Les photos de Sam racontent alors une nouvelle histoire dans laquelle la poésie de l’instant prend toute sa place, parfois juste dans un détail, figurant la fragile beauté de notre environnement et nous plaçant en contemplateur conscient. Ce livre vous emmène dans un voyage immobile retraçant 15 ans de fresques mais aussi de découvertes, de rencontres et d’anecdotes sur ses œuvres.

Sam is one of the rare artists in the world and a pioneer in France since 2008, to practice beach art, land art akin to ephemeral graffiti where the aerosol sprays are replaced by a rake and the walls by the beautiful beaches that surround him and those he travels throughout the world (South Africa, Morocco, Portugal, Spain, Ireland, Bermuda etc.). His immense drawings on the sand are inspired by the country where it is located, its culture (Moroccan ironwork and zelliges, Portuguese azulejos, etc.), the direct environment (crevices, shapes of rocks), urban art or simply improvised. These beaches become the canvas of a work without limits, except that of time, and sensational in the literal sense, where the five senses are awake, treading the sand with bare feet, smelling and tasting the iodized spray on the tongue, weathered by the sun and the wind, all to the sound of the waves breaking further away. The ephemeral aspect of this work highlights the importance of delighting in each moment, Before the tide washes away his work and returns to a pristine beach, comes a second work, this time photographic. Sam's photos then tell a new story in which the poetry of the moment takes its full place, sometimes just in a detail, depicting the fragile beauty of our environment and placing us as conscious contemplators. This book takes you on a still journey retracing 15 years of frescoes but also of discoveries, meetings and anecdotes about some works.
