Esta es la historia de mujeres que viven con una familia ajena: en una casa que no les pertenece y en un ambiente socioeconómico totalmente alejado del suyo. Cuidan a niños que tampoco les son propios. 
Ellas son las niñeras. Dentro de las casas que habitan se encuentra un micro mundo muy representativo de los contrastes que hay en México. Es una madeja con dos puntas; clases sociales diametralmente opuestas. Éstas coexisten, se tocan, y pocas veces se mezclan.
Muchas de las nanas tienen raíces indígenas, provienen del campo o de zonas marginadas de la ciudad. Emigran motivadas con la esperanza de mejorar sus condiciones de vida. Tienen un bajo nivel de instrucción formal (apenas saben leer y escribir). La mayoría comienza su vida laboral siendo aún niñas o adolescentes y un buen porcentaje son madres solteras. Ellas envejecen y presencian el envejecimiento de sus patrones. En cambio no ven crecer a sus propios hijos. El canto de estas mujeres es el arrullo para otros.

This is the story of women who live with a distant family: in a house that does not belong to them and in a socioeconomic environment totally removed from their own. They take care of children who are not their own either.
They are the babysitters. Inside the houses they live in there is a micro world very representative of the contrasts that exist in Mexico. It is a skein with two ends; diametrically opposed social classes. These coexist, touch, and rarely mix.
Many of the lullabies have indigenous roots, coming from the countryside or marginalized areas of the city. They emigrate motivated with the hope of improving their living conditions. They have a low level of formal education (they barely know how to read and write). The majority begin their working lives while still children or adolescents and a good percentage are single mothers. They grow old and witness the aging of their employers. On the other hand, they do not see their own children grow up. The song of these women is the lullaby for others.
