Title: Beauty in banality

Subtitle: A minimalism journey

Blurb/Shorttext:

We live in a world that seems to move faster every day. We have a thousand things to take care of and even if we could have some free time, we often interrupt this opportunity. We are looking at one of many screens instead of experiencing our surroundings. Mostly we don´t appreciate the beauty of little things that are present all the time but are hidden behind our superficial perception. For me a whole new world opened its door once I started to pay attention to the surroundings, we live in. While shooting photos I forget most things that bother me. I only focus on forms, colors and composition. Taking a minimalistic approach with my photography allows me to reduce sceneries to their core elements, ignoring all the chaos that exists outside the frame. It’s a way for me to bring peace and order into a world that often feels overwhelming in its complexity. Beside the fact that I want to capture images that are visually pleasing to the eye I also often try to capture a certain feeling that comes along with a place or object. Often these feelings are related to memories of my own or nostalgia to a time or place that I never experienced myself. To be more specific: I often try to replicate a certain vibe that I experienced while traveling through the south west of the United States. There I witnessed solitude, perception of scale, remains of the past and emptiness (in a positive way) like never before. For me it was the epitome of freedom and it deeply influenced my way of photography.
