Title: North/South
Subtitle: Traci Wright Martin
Blurb/Shorttext:
My work is motivated by a constant curiosity for the human experience. It weaves in and out of conversations on identity and representation and growth. Through an ever-evolving perspective on these important topics, I often consider the odyssey of change. I think about our defining moments of navigation, both individually and as a collective people. This book visually explores the most intensive and formative years in my creative journey. In many ways, it defines my own philosophical narrative on direction. “North” points forward to the journey my work is taking, both literally and figuratively. It commemorates my involvement in the Lunar Codex, where a number of my pieces will reside permanently on the moon with the vast and expansive “Polaris” collection. “South” is a look back. A retrospective that traces more than a decade of exploration in ideas through a variety of mixed media artwork and symbolic subject-matter.
