Susan Cooper is an artist with images that always tell a story, whether public art, exhibitions, or installations, using materials that suit that subject or location.
Cooper is from Los Angeles and studied art at the University of California, Berkeley. Her residencies have been in Roswell New Mexico, Yaddo in Saratoga Springs, University of Colorado computer engineering department, and La Napoule, France. Recent exhibitions have made it possible to live in Milan for a month in 2023, and in Venice in 2024.
For ten years Cooper was director, and later, president of Rocky Mountain Women's Institute, grating stipends and studio space to creative people at Colorado Women's Collage and the University of Denver, Denver.
Her work is at city halls, museums, parks, universities, transport systems, garages, and hospitals private and public collections. Whether abstract or representational, sculpture installations, or painting and graphics, Cooper's work addresses life stories and historic events relating to the nature of the sites. and her own experiences.
