By (author): Mengmeng Luo
Title: Immobile deterritorialisation
Subtitle: The power of a multidisciplinary approach to creation
Blurb/Shorttext:
‘Immobile deterritorialisation’ will document Mengmeng Luo's connection between visual image creation and multidisciplinary work, and we will explore all of her behind-the-scenes creative processes and collaborations with various fields.
Her current project combines the montage narrative of film with live environments, incorporating a variety of disciplines including architecture, sculpture and installation, in which she constructs multiple narratives of time and space.
Luo places installations that often delay or even subvert the operation of the machine in terms of the size of the object. The significance of the installation in a film presentation space is not only that it is an operable and deployable element, but also that it high lights its own unique materiality, allowing the constituent elements of the film to carry narrative and metaphorical expression, and ultimately transitioning into the materiality of the film in the sense of the over all installation.
