The Spanish painter Lino Lago explores the history of painting from classical figurative art to concept art and minimalism. In his “Fake Abstract” series he combines portraits by old masters with gestural marks or stripes and mostly monochrome colored canvases. It makes us viewers curious - we want to see more of the person behind the layers of colors, but on the other hand we enjoy the beauty of these colors and the sweeping gestures of the sections.
